IDAHO HERITAGE TRUST AND NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

December 2023, Idaho Heritage Trust awarded the LTPA a $100k grant for repair and renovation of the marquee. The grant is a National Parks Service Historic Preservation program especially for historic movie theaters.

LAURA MOORE CUNNINGHAM FOUNDATION

In 2019, the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation awarded the Liberty Theater Lewiston a $10,000 grant. These dollars were used to match funds for Phase 2 of the architectural design work. The project was geared toward design and development.

LANDMARK PROPERTY GROUP

In December 2018, Mark Alexander and his wife donated the historic Liberty Theater as well as two years of carrying costs to the Liberty Theater Preservation Alliance.  In addition, they provided funding to upgrade the basic electrical service of the theater. Their assistance to the Liberty and the whole community is invaluable and much appreciated.

US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & URBAN DEVELOPMENT

In April 2017, Housing & Urban Development Block Grant funds ($88,000), administered by the City of Lewiston, were used to repair deterioration caused by water damage to the roof of the Liberty Theater. The roof, the first priority in the restoration process, is a semi-flat, mono-pitched roof system on two levels that had issues with parapet flashing failure, parapet wall deterioration, and missing or deteriorated parapet cap segments. NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION

In 2016-2017 the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Down and Dirty Mud Run supported the restoration feasibility study grant completed by Artifacts Consulting, Inc. of Portland, OR, and Tim Lynch of My Architect. Special thanks to Katie Chase.

BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN LEWISTON

In May 2017, a $500 grant from Beautiful Downtown Lewiston and lights donated by Garry Bush of Idaho History Tours, paid for the repair of lights under the marquee and under the street (that light up the purple circles in the sidewalk) so that the Liberty Theater can be lit up for special events even before full restoration. US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & URBAN DEVELOPMENT

In June 2018, Housing & Urban Development Block Grant funds ($30,386), administered by the City of Lewiston, along with donated services by Tim Lynch of My Architect and plumbing fixtures and a new water heater donated by Hahn Supply were used to create an accessible ADA compliant restroom in the lobby area on the first floor of the Liberty Theater in a space previously used for storage. The historic Liberty Theater had two restrooms in the basement accessible only by a steep staircase. This project addresses the overall focus for CDBG activities in Lewiston “assistance to the most vulnerable population – households with incomes below 50% of median income and persons with disabilities”. CLEARWATER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

The Clearwater Economic Development Association donated time and expertise in conducting a Strategic Plan Development workshop with the LTPA Board. This help was the springboard needed to create and implement the strategic plan. Special thanks to Deb Smith.

ANNE HELEN PETERSEN

In October 2017, Anne Helen Petersen, Lewiston native, author, and journalist for Buzzfeed News spoke at the LTPA’s first fundraiser in the Salzberg Room at Towne Square. Use of the room was donated by Landmark Properties. Special thanks to Towne Square building manager.

VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE LEWIS CLARK STATE COLLEGE

In Fall 2017, with financial support from the Valley Chamber of Commerce and design work by Lewis-Clark State College students working under the supervision of Professor Diane Driskill, the LTPA launched its Membership Program with the first printing of its Membership brochure—special thanks to Deena Heath.

FOREVER IDAHO NORTH FUND

In May, 2019, the LTPA was awarded a $4,000 grant from the Forever Idaho North Fund of the Idaho Community Foundation.  The purpose of this grant is to build the financial capacity/capability of our organization as it prepares to launch its capital campaign later this year.

USDA RURAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

In June 2019, the LTPA was awarded a $20,000 grant by the USDA’s Rural Business Development.  Funding from this grant will be used to select an architect who will complete the Schematic Design plan for the Liberty.  In addition to providing conceptual design information, the Plan will address key design elements and provide updated cost estimates.  The selected architect will complete the bulk of this work by the end of November 2019. MARGRIT VON BRAUN & LEWISTON CITY LIBRARY

Lewiston City Library co-sponsored an event with the Liberty Theater Preservation Alliance to host Dr. Margrit von Braun, Daughter of Rocket Pioneer Wernher von Braun for a fundraising event in April of 2019. Thank you to the Lewiston City Library and Margrit von Braun.
